In Grade 5 we have been learning about ecosystems and the plants and animals that live in them. We have been very fortunate to have had many special guests visit us over the past week.
On Friday the 30th, Nicolás Silveira, a plant expert, came to visit us. He spoke to us about the characteristics of plants, how they reproduce and the ecosystems found in Uruguay. Nicolás also told us about how he became involved in studying and working for the University of the Repúblic in the Agriculture Department.
Thank you to Nicolás for his time and effort.
The following was written by Grade 5S:
Yesterday an awesome duo taught us about landscaping. Analía is an artist and Ximena is an architect. Both studied gardening and landscaping and now they work together.
Their job is to design landscapes for different people and in different places. For example, they had to design a public square (una plaza) in La Charqueada, Treinta y Tres.
Analía and Ximena showed us the steps they follow from the beginning to the end. This included their initial drawings, a computer program to draw a 3D plan and aerial view, and then they showed us the construction process.
Thank you to Ximena and Analía for choosing to show us what they do and how much they love it!
