In order to encourage the development of multiple intelligences, the school offers Sports, Physical Education, IT, Music, Art, Drama, Dance and Taekwon-do lessons. The school also offers pedagogical and psychological support.
At Woodlands we are based on Vygotsky’s concept of «Zone of Proximal Development», defined as «the distance between the actual developmental level as determined by independent problem solving and the level of potential development as determined through problem solving under adult guidance, or in collaboration with more capable peers»(Vygotsky, 1978).
Students at Junior School always come first. You can expect your child to be looked after and receive an excellent education, aiming at equipping all students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for personal success and a smooth transition to Secondary School.
Our aim is to teach students the physical, psychological and social benefits of practising sports in safe conditions.
At Junior School, the aim of Physical Education and Sports is for students to socialize, participate in and enjoy physical activity. Students are taught fair play. Competition is seen as an intrinsic motivation resulting in personal improvement.
The most practised sports are Rugby and Soccer for boys, Hockey and Handball for girls and Athletics for both. The School takes part in the Interschool Sports League Liga Intercolegial de Deportes (L.I.D.).
School camps are also part of our curriculum from Grade 1 to Grade 5. Integration, sense of belonging, sharing and autonomy are the pillars of the Camp Programme.
